MONDAY

Not raining today, but bitterly cold wind. We walked out from our flat in the East Village, through Washington Square and teh Village down to the WTC. We thought about going into the September 11 memorial , but the crowds were enormous.

Time Square and mid town were incredibly crowded too 

We tried to go up the Rock, but were told we would have to queue for 4 hours!

Day 3 - Sunday breakfast, Central station and Metropolitan

DA 3 - THE DELUGE

Well, after two sunny days, the heavens opened on Sunday and we got soaked!

After a big breakfast, 

We took the subway upto Grand Central Station - what a brilliant building - almost as impessive as Crewe Station!

Finally, we bought an umbrella and went up to the Metropolitam Museum of Art, lots of good stuff and Laura seemed especially interested in this from the Easter Islands

Day 2 - Chinatown, Hudson River, The High Line and Central Park

So,we walked and we walked......ane then we walked some more.......

First into Chinatown

Then over to the River Hudson and onto teh High Line - a reconverted railway line that passed right by where I used to live

And here I am outside 511 W 27th  - a bit more run down and decrepit - and the house is too

Finally, we went up to Central park:

It's all changed!!!!!

It's really strange but I don't seem to recognise ANYTHING here in NY. It's as if I've never been here before! I can remember the objective geohraphy - where 5th Ave is, where the Village is etc....., but I have no sensation of memory whatsoever that I was here. It is very strange indeed. Here's a photo of me outside the flat I lived in on 16th Street. Maybe the city has changed so much, or maybe my brain is too addled!

Day One

DAY 1 26/27 DECEMBER

 First full day after an 18 hour journey from Pamplona to NYC.

If we were knackered at the start of today, we are out on our feet now, after walking across the Manhatten Bridge and then back across the Brooklyn Bridge.

A "Light" stroll up 5th Ave this evening and we are exhausted!
