So that's it!

So, that's it!

A great holiday has come to an end! What a brilliant city this is  - and we've had everything! Excellent food, beautiful sunny days, rain and snow! We even got to see Canada on the way here. A final stroll round the Village and now we are off to the airport

Snow in Central Park

FRIDAY IN THE SNOW

After last night's snow storm we woke up to a sunny, but freezing cold day.

Of course, we decided to go up to Central Park, so we took the subway to 110th Street - the Park was stunningly beautiful and quite empty in the North part at least:

Then down to Big Wong's again and back up to
midtown to shop some more

Thursday

Both of us were beginning to feel the pace a bit today - it's been a week of traipsing the streets and doing the touristy things - we were ready to take it easy. This is our flat and I for one felt that another day like the last few could see me moving next door on a permanennt basis.

- but no! We'd paid for our New York City Pass and we were going to use it ! So, after a late breakfast we went off to the American Museum of Natural History in Central Park. Altho I enjoyed the Planetarium, it was frankly not the best museum we've seen - too confusing and too many people. So we whizzed off back to Union Square and Laura fulfilled another dream - a hamburger in NYC - at teh excellent 5 Napkins Restaurant on 14th Street and 3rd Avenue.

AND THEN ......... THE SNOW CAME!!!!!!

Which of course meant we could only schlepp it to the corner restaurant, where Nick showed the locals how cool dudes drink....

....and Laura could show 'em how to look beautiful in the snow.

What will we do tomorrow?

New Year's Day - Empire State, MOMA and Statten Island Ferry

New Year's Day:

1. Got up early and had a coffee on the street

2. We went up the Empire State Building early - NO QUEUES!!!!!!!

3. We saw the ice-skaters at The Rockefeller Buiding and went to MOMA

4. In the evening we went on the Staten Island Ferry

5. Walked back up Broadway

6. Fell asleep

NYE IN NYC

Followed by a well deserved lunch at Big Wong's in Chinatown

Monday

MONDAY

Not raining today, but bitterly cold wind. We walked out from our flat in the East Village, through Washington Square and teh Village down to the WTC. We thought about going into the September 11 memorial , but the crowds were enormous.

Laura finally got to eat a Hot Dog!

On Wall Street, George Washington points out the commie louse to security

Time Square and mid town were incredibly crowded too

We tried to go up the Rock, but were told we would have to queue for 4 hours!
